Natural skin rejuvenation and hair restoration through autologous blood therapy

PRF TREATMENT

Frau mit ebenmäßiger Haut und geschlossenen Augen nach PRF-Behandlung

A naturally fresh complexion and smooth, youthful skin – without any incisions or the use of foreign materials. Regenerative medicine has been gaining popularity in recent years. One of these regenerative methods is PRF treatment. This innovative autologous blood therapy utilises the body’s own naturally occurring growth factors, exosomes and messenger molecules to stimulate regeneration processes in the skin (of the head).

Unlike conventional procedures, PRF does not use any artificial additives, producing a particularly gentle and long-lasting effect. In addition to skin rejuvenation, the treatment can also be used to treat hair loss.

I, Dr Stefan Duve, am an anti-ageing expert with over 30 years of experience in the field of aesthetic medicine and have already helped many patients to improve the appearance of their skin with PRF treatment. See for yourself and make an appointment for a personal consultation at my practices in Munich or Zurich. I would also be happy to inform you about suitable treatment methods in my video consultation.

Definition: What is PRF?

PRF (short for platelet-rich fibrin) is an autologous blood therapy that uses only the body’s own naturally occurring elements to regenerate skin and tissue. The method is based on extracting platelet-rich fibrin from the patient’s own blood, which contains highly concentrated growth factors, exosomes and messenger molecules or biostimulators. These substances stimulate cell regeneration, collagen production and blood flow in the tissue.

A key difference compared to the more well-known PRP treatment (platelet-rich plasma, which is also known as vampire lifting) is that PRF does not require anticoagulants. This means that PRF treatment is completely free of exogenous additives, which makes it particularly well tolerated by patients. Its effect unfolds somewhat more slowly, but by comparison it offers more sustainable results in the long term.

Which application areas can be targeted with PRF treatment?

PRF treatment can be used for a variety of aesthetic purposes and medical indications. Thanks to its natural mode of action, it is particularly suitable for gentle skin rejuvenation, stimulating hair growth and supporting healing processes.

Skin rejuvenation

PRF can help reduce fine wrinkles, improve skin texture and increase skin elasticity. Especially people who are looking for a natural alternative to filler or Botox® injections benefit from this method.

Treatment of the skin around the eyes

The PRF procedure can also be used to reduce dark circles under the eyes and fine lines. The growth factors promote blood flow and skin regeneration, making the area around the eyes appear more vibrant and youthful.

Hair loss treatment

PRF treatment also offers a promising solution for people suffering from hair loss. Injecting it into the scalp can activate the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. This method offers the possibility of slowing down hair loss and stimulating new growth, especially for people suffering from premature hair loss.

Wound healing

In addition to aesthetic applications, PRF is also used in medicine to heal wounds. It contains growth factors that can support the healing processes after injuries, surgeries or aesthetic procedures and thus accelerate the regeneration of damaged tissue.

What should I keep in mind before the treatment?

For best results, it is advisable to refrain from taking blood thinners for at least 14 days before the treatment, as they can affect blood clotting. However, you should never discontinue your medication without consulting your doctor first.

You should not consume alcohol or nicotine on the day of the treatment, as they affect blood flow and may have a negative impact on the healing process.

The skin in the treatment area should also be free of make-up.

What is the procedure for the PRF treatment?

PRF treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that is carried out in several steps. The patient’s own blood is processed and then injected into the desired skin or scalp area.

Blood collection
First, a small amount of blood is taken. This process is similar to an ordinary blood collection and only takes a few minutes.

Centrifugation
The collected blood is then processed in a special centrifuge. This process separates the blood components so that the platelet-rich fibrin can be isolated.

Obtaining the PRF
After centrifugation, the PRF is extracted. It contains a high concentration of growth factors and platelets, which are essential for the regenerative effect.

Application
Depending on the desired treatment objective, the extracted PRF is applied to the skin or scalp. The entire treatment usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes and can be carried out on an outpatient basis. For best results, several sessions at intervals of one to two months are usually advisable.

How much does PRF treatment cost?

The cost of a PRF treatment varies. It depends on the type of application, body area and extent of the treatment. Generally, the price per session is around 800 euros.

Although PRF is slightly more expensive than PRP therapy, it offers more lasting results due to the slower release of growth factors. In a personal consultation, you will receive a customised treatment concept and a specific cost breakdown.

Frequently asked questions about acne treatment

Answers from the expert Dr Duve

How long does it take for PRF to produce the desired effect?

The effect of PRF treatment is gradual, as the growth factors are released slowly and support the natural regeneration process. Skin improvement or hair growth develop gradually over several weeks and months.

Is PRF safe?

PRF treatment is a safe procedure because it only uses only the body’s own naturally occurring substances. This means that there is an extremely low risk of allergic reactions or rejection reactions.

How many sessions are necessary?

The amount of required sessions depends on your individual treatment goal. Generally, two to three sessions at intervals of four to six months are the best way to achieve optimum results.

Is PRF painful?

PRF treatment is minimally invasive and therefore very painless. If necessary, an anaesthetic cream can be applied before the injection to minimise any discomfort.
