Definition: What is a Skinbooster treatment?

The Skinbooster treatment uses hyaluronic acid to noticeably improve the skin’s appearance for a long time. Rejuvenation of the skin is not the only effect of the treatment. A Skinbooster treatment at Dr Duve’s can also improve uneven skin texture. Among other things, slight skin damage caused by too much UV radiation can also be addressed with the treatment. For whom is the treatment suitable?

Apart from that, this treatment also appeals to people who suffered from acne in their younger years and now have to live with the scars from the pimples. With this treatment, a significant improvement of the skin structure can be achieved.

Which areas can be treated?

The minimally invasive Skinbooster method targets different parts of the body and basically all areas where wrinkles appear and the skin looks dry, creased and wrinkled, to the detriment of those affected. Dr Duve most commonly treats the following areas:

In a personal consultation, Dr Duve will inform you about the expected results and discuss with you whether the Skinbooster treatment is the best choice for your individual scenario, or whether it would be better to use alternatives such as Botox® or Radiesse®. Often, he also applies a combination of skin boosters and hyaluronic acid fillers or threads.

What should be considered before the treatment?

The injection of hyaluronic acid as part of the Skinbooster treatment is a minimally invasive procedure. This means that the skin is only minimally irritated and pierced with the finest needles. To further reduce the already low risks, it is recommended that you do not take any blood thinners for 14 days prior to the procedure. On the day of the treatment, please show up at the practice without make-up.

What is the procedure for the Skinbooster treatment?

First, Dr Duve will inform you about the treatment. The following points will be discussed during a personal consultation.

During the application, Dr Duve injects hyaluronic acid into your skin, which plumps up and stimulates the skin. Small wrinkles disappear, and the skin looks vibrant and rosy. A local anaesthetic in the form of a numbing cream is recommended for the treatment. The complete treatment only takes about 15 minutes, after which you can leave the practice. You can continue to socialise and work. The procedure should be repeated after about four weeks and then one more time at the same interval to ensure an outstanding result.

What should I bear in mind after the treatment and how long does it take to heal?

Take it easy on your skin and give your body time to recover. You should avoid strenuous activities such as sports. You should also give your skin rest and avoid applying make-up for a while. Direct sunlight is also not recommended for a few hours after the session. However, all restrictions only apply for one day, after which you can carry on as usual. The healing process does not take long. On the second day after the treatment, you can look forward to not having any more side effects – any slight swelling should subside by then, and redness will also no longer be visible.

When will the result be visible?

A first improvement of the skin is immediately visible when the side effects subside and the skin regenerates. However, it will take a few weeks to reach the final result. Once it is achieved, however, it lasts for around eight to ten months in most cases. To maintain the desired result, the treatment can be repeated again and again.

How much does the treatment cost?

What side effects can occur?

You should expect redness and slight swelling. However, these symptoms usually disappear quickly. The treatment carries very little risk – especially if it is performed by an experienced doctor like Dr Duve.
