What is skin rejuvenation and how does it work?

The skin rejuvenation I offer uses high-energy light energy. The targeted beam of light stimulates collagen formation, resulting in significantly firmer skin and a more youthful appearance. In addition to these non-ablative lasers, ablative or invasive lasers can also be used. They also remove the damaged upper layers of skin. I will recommend the best method for you based on the skin condition and individual wishes. The choice also depends on lifestyle habits, the time of year and your skin type.

For whom is the treatment suitable?

Laser skin rejuvenation is suitable for every woman and man who is affected by mild, age-related skin changes. Such skin conditions include:

• Mild skin blemishes,
• Pigmentation marks,
• Fine lines or wrinkles,
• Scars.

Laser treatment can minimise such imperfections and skin spots.

Which zones/areas can be treated?

Laser skin rejuvenation can generally be applied to all areas of the skin where a more vibrant and firmer skin appearance is desired. Customarily, the treatment is carried out on the face, but age-related changes on the body can also be treated.

What should be considered before the treatment?

To ensure that your skin is optimally prepared for the treatment as well as for aftercare, we recommend that our patients refrain from sunbathing and going to tanning studios in general for four weeks before and after the appointment. You should also apply sunscreen with a high sun protection factor. You should be in general good health on the treatment day. Alcohol and nicotine consumption should be avoided. If possible, do not take any medication that inhibits blood clotting for about one week before the skin rejuvenation. If necessary, talk to your attending physician.

How does the treatment work?

The skin areas agreed in advance in the patient consultation are marked accordingly. Then a local anaesthetic is applied. Eye protection is also part of the standard laser protection measures. After the anaesthetic has taken effect, the treatment with the laser device begins. Depending on the area of skin and the extent of the skin changes, you should expect a treatment time of half an hour to one and a half hours.

What should I consider after the treatment?

After the laser treatment, it is important to protect the skin areas from contamination and friction. As before, direct sunlight and tanning studio visits should be avoided for four weeks after the treatment. The application of sunscreen with a high sun protection factor is also part of the aftercare.

How many sessions are needed for permanently smooth skin?

How many sessions are necessary to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance must always be determined on a case-by-case basis. Good results can be achieved after just one treatment; in other cases, several sessions are advisable or necessary. It always depends on the extent of the damaged/aged skin as well as the personal wishes of the patient and the selected laser system. If several treatment sessions are required, there should be at least a four-week break in between.

When will the result be visible?

Laser skin rejuvenation results in the formation of new collagen in the treated areas. This process begins about two to three weeks after the first session. However, it can take up to a month or even longer in some cases before the final effect is visible.

How much does the treatment cost?

As unique as the skin appearance and the wishes of our patients, so are the costs of laser skin rejuvenation. The selected type of laser also plays a role. Without a personal consultation and skin analysis, it is therefore difficult for me to make a statement regarding the price. In principle, however, you can expect costs starting at around 400 euros per session.

What side effects can occur?

Laser treatment is considered low risk as long as it is carried out professionally. My team has long-standing experience and the necessary expertise in this field. Therefore, you generally do not have to fear any remarkable consequences. The laser is always applied based on individual tolerance. However, short-term swelling or redness is quite normal and subsides after a short time. Slight scabbing may be visible. Healing should be complete after two weeks or less. However, it is important to stay out of the sun after the treatment. The darker the skin type, the more important this rule is.
