What is Thermage treatment, and how does it work?

Collagen is a key component of the skin and connective tissue and plays a crucial role in skin aging. Our skin is supported by a structure of collagen fibres. As we age, collagen production decreases, causing the skin to lose its elasticity and firmness.

This is where Thermage FLX® comes in: a non-invasive treatment that gently rejuvenates the skin. It uses advanced radiofrequency technology to tighten the skin from the inside out. It delivers heat to the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and promoting skin regeneration for months. With the patented FLX® method, the result can often be achieved with just a single treatment, depending on the initial condition of the skin.

Who can benefit from Thermage FLX®?

I perform Thermage treatment for patients who want firmer skin but prefer to avoid surgery. The main treatment areas include the face (eyelids, cheeks, jawline), neck and sagging skin on the arms, legs, stomach and buttocks.

This method is a gentle alternative to a surgical facelift and works well for most skin types. The treatment may not be suitable for those with very thin skin and minimal subcutaneous tissue, as there isn’t enough connective tissue.

Before the Thermage treatment

I advise my patients to avoid direct sunlight for about two weeks before their Thermage treatment. Additionally, you should only attend the appointment if you’re feeling well and healthy.

What is the procedure for the Thermage treatment in Munich and Zurich?

Thermage FLX® is generally painless and does not require anaesthesia. During the treatment, the applicator is moved across the targeted area of skin. The radiofrequency generates heat, and you will also feel the applicator tip vibrating. To make the treatment as comfortable as possible, short bursts of cold are applied periodically to minimise any pain. The treatment lasts between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Aftercare and results

Most of my patients can resume their normal activities right after the treatment. Be sure to avoid sunbathing and tanning studios for the next few weeks.

You will notice the first results within a few days as your skin becomes noticeably firmer. The final results will develop over the next few months, with the skin’s appearance steadily improving for up to six months. A single session is often enough to achieve the desired result, depending on the skin’s initial condition. We will create your individual treatment plan during a personal consultation. Does the Thermage treatment have any side effects?

Thermage FLX® is considered low-risk. As an experienced doctor in this field, I offer treatments with the highest level of safety. Slight reddening may appear in the treated areas after the session. If needed, this can be concealed with makeup. Minor bruising and slight swelling may also occur. However, this typically resolves on its own within a few days.

How much does the Thermage treatment cost in Munich and Zurich?

The cost of Thermage FLX® varies based on the treatment area and the condition of your skin. Prices in my practice generally start at EUR 2000. You will receive a detailed costs projection during a personal consultation.
