Radiofrequency and PRP against stretch marks

TREAT STRETCH MARKS

Stretch marks usually appear on the breasts, buttocks and abdomen. At first, they are dark blue, but over time they turn white. Affected people often feel that their body image is impaired by the stretch marks and suffer psychologically from the scar-like stripes. Often, affected people withdraw and no longer like to show off their skin. For example, they overdress in warm summer months or when they go swimming. – –

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks are also known as growth marks because they occur in areas where the skin stretches and becomes loose over time. They start out bluish-red, but over time they turn white and increasingly resemble scars. Most of the time, the stripes are harmless to health. However, it is also conceivable that they can be caused by serious diseases, which is why the stretch marks should be clarified with a doctor. The reason for the overstretching of the skin can be pregnancy or a strong increase or decrease in body weight. Changes in the hormonal balance, as well as a strong muscle build-up, can also be the cause. An unhealthy lifestyle can also contribute. Especially diet has an impact on our skin, the largest organ of the human body.

For whom is the treatment suitable?

The treatment is suitable for men and women of all ages. Our patients often include women who suffer from stretch marks on their abdomen after pregnancy. Furthermore, many patients are annoyed by stretch marks on the buttocks and legs, where they often appear after massive weight gain or loss.

Which zones/areas can be treated?

All parts of the body where stretch marks appear can also be treated. The most common areas for treatment include the following:

  • Buttocks,
  • Abdomen,
  • Legs,
  • Upper arms,
  • Chest.

In a personal consultation, we will advise you on the method that is right for you. We will also present the risks and side effects and give you a prognosis regarding the result.

What treatment methods are available?

Dr Duve offers two different methods, which are described in more detail below:

Korea method

This method was developed by two Korean doctors, which is how it got its name. It combines intradermal radiofrequency with the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, which is also known as the vampire lift. In this procedure, blood is taken from the patient and processed (or separated into platelets and serum). The growth factors contained in the serum are then increased 50-fold in a special preparation and finally injected back into the skin. This is combined with a radiofrequency treatment using an appropriate device.

Rio method

In this method, the stretch marks are pierced lengthwise, which stimulates the body’s natural healing process. Here too, the patient’s own blood is injected into the skin. In addition, the skin is treated with a CO2 laser. During the healing phase, which can last about four weeks, the stretch marks become much narrower. With both methods, a repeat treatment is possible after a few weeks to further improve the result.

What should be considered before the treatment?

You should not drink alcohol or smoke on the day of the treatment. It is also important that you refrain from taking blood thinners for about 14 days before the procedure. You should come to the treatment freshly showered, but without any tanning cream on the areas to be treated. As both methods are based on a minimally invasive procedure with a very low risk, there are no other precautions to take.

How does the treatment work?

First, Dr Duve will arrange a personal consultation with you. During this time, he will not only answer your questions, but also give you comprehensive information about the two methods and explain possible risks and side effects. On the day of the treatment, Dr Duve will then perform the chosen treatment. This is done under local anaesthesia or after applying a light anaesthetic cream. The treatment is therefore very painless for patients.

There is usually no severe pain afterwards either. However, you should expect slight redness and swelling as well as bruising. The treatment lasts about 30 minutes.

Rio method

It should be noted that the Rio method requires a two-week local pre-treatment of the skin areas affected by the stretch marks. The skin is treated with a vitamin A acid as well as a Synchroline Terproline lotion. This optimally prepares the skin for the actual treatment. During the treatment, Dr Duve gently and with the utmost attention pierces the corresponding areas with a cannula or treats them with a Dermapen. In the end, the areas are compressed with an adhesive bandage. Usually, three treatments at intervals of three to six months are necessary for an optimal result.

Korea method

After blood is drawn and processed, it is re-injected into the skin. The rejuvenating effect of this vampire lift is enhanced by thermal treatment using a radiofrequency device. This method also requires three follow-up treatments, approximately at intervals of four to six weeks.

What should I consider after the treatment?

Exercising is not recommended for about ten days. Apart from that, you can carry on with your usual social activities and can go back to work. However, slight swelling and haematoma are possible, but they usually disappear quickly.

When will the result be visible?

The first results are usually only visible after several weeks. In order for the stretch marks to disappear almost completely, three treatments are necessary for both treatment concepts. Complete removal of the stripes is not possible, no matter which method is used. You can also repeat the process to boost the result achieved, which usually leads to further improvements. Dr Duve is guided by your personal wishes and your individual skin situation.

How much does the treatment cost?

The exact price depends on the part of the body to be treated as well as your personal skin situation and will be communicated to you during the consultation.

What are the risks?

The risk with both methods is low. However, redness and swelling of the treated skin areas are to be expected. They usually disappear quickly. With Dr Duve, you are in the very best hands. If you are unsure after the treatment whether everything is going as expected and desired, you can always contact Dr Duve.

How do I get rid of stretch marks?

Stretch marks can be treated with autologous blood and radiofrequency energy. Two specific options are the Korean and Rio methods.

What is the reason for stretch marks?

Stretch marks often appear after pregnancy or severe weight gain or loss. An unhealthy lifestyle can also lead to stretch marks.
